How to extend the life of concrete pump truck?

Due to the properties of concrete, it will solidify on the objects it adheres to over time. Therefore, after a concrete pump truck finishes delivering concrete, the hopper and conveying pipeline system must be thoroughly cleaned. If residual concrete inside the concrete cylinder is not completely removed, it will harden on the cylinder wall.

When the piston runs again, the piston sealing surface will directly bear the impact of the hardened concrete on the cylinder wall, causing localized peeling of the piston. This type of damage differs from normal wear and tear on the piston seal; the sealing surface cannot self-compensate under pressure, leading to grout leakage or cavitation, resulting in weak pumping, blockages, and other problems.

Therefore, timely cleaning of concrete pump trucks is crucial for extending their lifespan. Concrete pump truck cleaning can be divided into two types: water-based cleaning and waterless cleaning. Water-based cleaning of the concrete pump truck's delivery pump includes three methods: discharge port bend ball plug cleaning, concrete cylinder ball plug cleaning, and ball-free cleaning. Waterless cleaning includes two methods: compressed air cleaning and hose ball suction cleaning.

1. Water washing: Water washing requires a small gap between the cutting ring and the eye plate, a large amount of water, and strict sealing so that the water after cleaning the ball does not penetrate forward. At the end of water washing, be careful not to let the water in the pipeline flow to the place where the concrete is poured, otherwise it will affect the quality of the concrete. This method is simple to operate, less dangerous, and more commonly used.

2. Air washing: Air washing means blowing with compressed air. It is to insert the cleaning ball soaked in water into the air washing joint first, then connect it to the first straight pipe connected to the variable diameter, and connect a safety cap at the end of the pipe (the orifice of the safety cap must face downwards). When air washing the concrete truck-mounted pump, the pressure of the compressed air must be controlled not to exceed 0.8MPa; the air valve must be opened slowly, and the large valve can only be opened when the concrete can flow out smoothly; after air washing is completed, the air valve must be closed immediately.

With the rapid development of the construction industry, methods for transporting concrete are constantly evolving. In the past, stationary concrete pumps (or "trailer concrete pumps") were the primary method, but truck-mounted concrete pumps ( also called "concrete line pump" )have now gradually become the mainstream choice.
