Some basic tips about concrete pump truck running-in
Release time:
2026-04-17
Data source:
The market demand for concrete pump trucks is gradually increasing with the development of the construction industry. Many customers who purchase pump trucks lack experienced operators. While a new pump truck may be in excellent working order, even the best concrete pump truck requires a running-in period for the operator and the driver.

✅1. Rapid Wear Rate
Due to factors such as the machining, installation, and adjustment of new pump truck parts, their surfaces are rough, the contact area of mating surfaces is small, and the surface pressure is uneven. During operation, the uneven parts of the parts interlock and rub against each other, and the metal debris worn off acts as abrasive, further accelerating the wear of the mating surfaces. Therefore, during the running-in period of a concrete pump truck, wear of parts (especially mating surfaces) is easily caused, and the wear rate is rapid. If overloaded operation is carried out at this time, it may lead to damage to parts and premature failure.
✅2. Poor Lubrication
Newly installed components on a concrete pump truck have small mating clearances, and due to installation and other reasons, it's difficult to ensure uniformity of these clearances. Lubricating oil (grease) cannot easily form a uniform oil film on the friction surfaces to prevent wear. This reduces lubrication efficiency and leads to premature abnormal wear of the parts. In severe cases, it can cause scratches or seizing on the finely mated friction surfaces, leading to malfunctions in the concrete pump truck.
✅3. Loosening
Newly manufactured and installed components on a concrete pump truck have deviations in geometric shape and mating dimensions. In the initial stages of use, due to alternating loads such as impact and vibration, as well as factors such as heat and deformation, coupled with rapid wear, originally tight components can easily loosen.
✅4. Leakage may occur
Due to loosening of components, vibration, and heat, leaks may appear at the machine's sealing surfaces and pipe joints. Some casting and machining defects, difficult to detect during installation and commissioning, are exposed by vibration and impact during operation, manifesting as oil (water) leakage. Therefore, leakage is common during the break-in period of pump trucks.
✅5. Frequent operational errors
Due to insufficient understanding of the machine's structure and functions (especially for new operators), operational errors can easily lead to malfunctions and even accidents.
