The trailer-mounted concrete pump is a very common piece of construction equipment; favored by contractors for its compact size, ease of transport, and cost-effectiveness. Unlike other types of concrete pumps, however, trailer pumps require the installation of a pipeline system for operation and demand specific operational techniques. So, what key points should be kept in mind when using a trailer concrete pump?
1. Straight-Line Pipeline Laying
At the construction site, a sealed protective enclosure should generally be provided, and the area within the operating range of the boom must be free of obstacles and high-voltage power lines. Furthermore, the pipeline layout between the pumping equipment and the pouring point should ideally follow a straight line to minimize bends; pipeline supports and fixtures must ensure a secure and reliable installation, and flexible hoses must not be mixed with rigid steel pipes.
2. Installation of Critical Components
During installation, it is strictly prohibited to connect the vertical pipeline of the trailer pump directly to the pump's discharge outlet. It is recommended to install a horizontal pipe section at least 10 meters long before the vertical pipe, ensuring that a non-return valve is fitted where the horizontal pipe connects to the pump. Additionally, when laying a downward-sloping pipeline, it is recommended to install a horizontal pipe section at the lower end with a length at least five times the vertical height of the sloped section.
3. Handling Blockages
If a blockage occurs in the delivery pipeline during operation, it is recommended to stop pumping immediately. Inspect the pipeline, remove the blocked section to clear the obstruction, and then securely reinstall and seal it. It should be noted that delivery pipelines intended for trailer-mounted pumps must strictly not be used on truck-mounted concrete pumps.
4. Handling, Use, and Storage of Concrete Placing Booms
During both use and storage, the placing boom must generally be securely anchored using ropes tension-ed from multiple directions; if such anchoring is not feasible, the installation of temporary supports is recommended. When hoisting the boom, ensure it is balanced and securely locked; during assembly, take precautions to prevent pinch injuries at pipe joints. Additionally, the placing boom should be positioned on level, solid ground.
5. Climatic Conditions
When operating the delivery pump using the boom, ensure that wind speeds remain below 16 m/s; use of the boom is prohibited if wind force exceeds Level 6. However, during hot weather, the pipeline may be covered with items such as damp sacking.
